Replicating sustainable energy solutions
A web portal of data and knowledge for up-scaling sustainable energy solutions. It serves external decision-makers with replication plans and a Replication Roadmap Tool that guides them through a six-stage analysis of technology, legal frameworks and lessons learnt.
Developed in the Robinson project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme. The roadmap is part of the Robinson Evidence Base, which also covers technologies, legal frameworks and applications.

Who takes part in a replication
Local society
Residents whose acceptance shapes any renewable installation, and who may also supply biomass.
Regional and municipal authorities
Handle licensing and fit the project into local strategic plans.
Technical and economic chambers
Advise on construction, renewable energy legislation, grid connection and economics.
Inside a roadmap step

Six steps to replicate an energy solution
- 01
Identify needs and potential
Local energy needs and conditions, renewable potential and sustainable siting.
- 02
Set up an action group
Involve key actors early to gain the broadest support.
- 03
Link to the solution
Select the components and model the system to meet the requirements.
- 04
Ensure the application context
Prepare the business model, legal framework and financing, and agree on cooperation.
- 05
Make adaptations
Decide how far components need customising and compare the original and new use case.
- 06
Test and prepare to implement
Evaluate the adopted solution, review results with each stakeholder and set up follow-up.
